"Small minds discuss people. Great minds discuss ideas."

In the advent of the digital age, it is easy to get caught up in the latest celebrity gossip, political scandal or what Trump said on Twitter.

Let's bring back the days where substantive ideas are discussed in person and where music and art are expressed in its purest form without the cacophony of background noise.

The Living Room Series is inspired by 18th century French salons where a cross-section of society would gather to discuss ideas and share their passion for music and the arts. Through our events, we aim to gather people with different lives, backgrounds and stories to expand everyone's perspective and build a commnity through music, art and words.

The theme for this upcoming Living Room Series is "Identity".

FAQs

1. Do I need to RSVP?

Yes, please do so via Eventbrite so that we can plan accordingly. We have an attendance limit of 70 people due to capacity so please RSVP early or else you may not get a spot.

2. Who is performing/speaking?

The lineup has been carefully curated to ensure an extraordinary evening. To ensure that all artists and speakers are given equal attention, we keep the lineup secret right up to the beginning of the show.

3. This is my first time, what can I expect at this event?

Come with an open mind and get ready for a unique experience.

Unlike traditional events where there is a clear divide between the performer and audience, the Living Room Series invites active participation from everyone in the room. Attendees are encouraged to engage in dialogue with others, and chime in during panel sessions and intermission breaks. We also allocate extra time at the end of the event to facilitate discussions with other attendees (In short: There will be lots of great discussions!)

4. Where can I learn more and sign up for future Living Room Series events?

Check us out http://livingroomseries.ca/

5. How do I sign up to volunteer or host?

We would love some help for this event and future ones as well - feel free to message us via FB. To be part of the team, feel free to speak with the hosts, Gordon Sinn, Crystal Li or Steven Ngo at the event itself.

6. How many events have you done?

We first launched in March and have held events every month. Recently, the Living Room Series launched in Vancouver and will expanding over to Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore in the near future.

These large scale events happen once a quarter and in between, we host smaller gatherings of 10-15 people to discuss the themes in depth. Attendees are carefully curated at the mini events to ensure a diversity of backgrounds and viewpoints. If interested, sign up at http://livingroomseries.ca/
